The D:Lab puts people first, meeting with project leads regularly to help them balance projects with academic commitments. It gives people tools and resources to succeed and helps them thrive by providing opportunities for personal and professional development.
Creating positive social change.
Each D:Lab projects aligns with one
or more of the United Nations
Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs). These goals represent nearly
every country’s commitment to end
poverty, fight inequality and injustice,
and tackle climate change by 2030.
Making sure that projects fall under
the scope of the SDGs ensures that
D:Lab work is directed toward
improving the D:Lab’s community
and the lives of people within it.
Hands-on.
The D:Lab understands that
sometimes, the last thing students
want to do is study more theory. By
providing Fabrication Workshops
in areas such as web development,
3D Modelling, and 3D Printing, the
D:Lab allows you to try your hand
at emerging technologies, gain
valuable skills, and enjoy yourself
while you’re at it.
Innovative and cutting-edge.
Many of the D:Lab’s projects are
exploring innovative and emerging
technologies and the ways in which
they are poised to change Ghanaian
and sub-Saharan African livelihoods.
The D:Lab is actively involved in
research in areas including health,
agriculture, food systems, and
software development.
Part of a larger community.
The D:Lab is part of a network of
design thinking institutions around
the world. It is proud to be a part of
this community and has offered
students opportunities to join it as
well — taking part in international
conferences, hosting workshops with
design thinkers from Ghana and
around the world, and giving students
opportunities to travel overseas and
collaborate across borders to create
solutions for pressing global issues.
