Empathize, Design, Innovate; these are at the core of the Ashesi D: Lab. To celebrate the brilliant minds that have utilized these principles, the D: Lab, a subunit of the Ashesi Entrepreneurship Center, organized an exposition to showcase innovative projects undertaken by Ashesi students over the school year. The purpose of the exhibition was to acknowledge the participants' brilliant efforts and inspire other students to use their ideas to create innovative solutions to problems around us.

The D: Lab Innovation Expo, which took place on the 7th of September from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm, was a colorful display of the technical and innovative work of students who have managed to bring their ideas to life. The event at the Entrepreneurship Center was studded with creative and ground-breaking solutions to problems spanning from education and agriculture to the engineering sector. The participants comprised multi-disciplinary teams who presented their innovative ideas to a panel of judges and the general campus. After that, votes were cast to decide the best projects in the various disciplines.

A total of 17 projects across several industries were presented during the exposition. At the end of the event, the Electric Vehicle Project emerged as the best project in the engineering category. In the Education category, UniGhana, an app that assists students applying to tertiary institutions with a plethora of relevant information on the schools, won first place. For environmental sustainability, a bioswale flood control project topped that category. Urban farming using hydroponics won the best agricultural project. Finally, for healthcare and lifestyle, EasyGo, an application that offers convenience in planning and embarking on tours for recreational purposes, emerged the winner. The exhibition undoubtedly proved the Ashesi D: Lab’s efforts in empowering students to explore their interest areas without boundaries.

Organized for students, the Expo was a roaring success as students, staff, and faculty members flocked from their classrooms, hostels, and offices to view the diverse projects on display and enjoy the delicious food and drinks that vendors provided. Indeed, the D: Lab Innovation Expo was a huge success, and we owe this to the mind-blowing ingenuity of our participants and the immense support of faculty, staff, alumni, and students of Ashesi. A special mention goes to our cherished alumni business partners, including Timeless, Sanhwe, Nissie, and TASTEtimonials whose support added to the compelling success story of the event. The innovation Expo was to celebrate innovations done to encourage more. Indeed, these projects will continue, and we are sure there will be more initiatives from students, staff, and faculty to drive innovation that makes us unique in meeting Ashesi's entrepreneurial ambitions.
