Instead of looking for jobs for our youth, how about we create opportunities for them to be self-employed? Skill bank initiative is a project that comes to fill in the gaps to achieve this objective through equipping the youth with necessary skills for various hand works. Seasoned experts will teach and train apprentices in skills such as Fabrication, Soap making, sewing, and many more. The project will attract seasoned experts to train these apprentices the necessary skills together with entrepreneurial knowledge to strive well in this rather dynamic world.
The project addresses inadequacy in youth employment opportunities and seeks to solve the following SDG goals:
SDGs: zero poverty(SDG 1)
Goal 5: gender equality
Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth (SDG 8)
Goal 10: reduced inequality
Solution statement
Our solution is a Skills Bank, a center that focuses on training the youth on diverse skills including Fashion design, Soap Making, Fabrication and many more. While receiving these skills training, we will also offer them entrepreneurial skills to enable them to strive well in this rather dynamic economy and open up businesses to boost the economy by employing other people.
Project Objective
Explore the skills gap space among the youth in the upper west region and develop solutions to address them.
